Alexis Ffrench, Head of Keyboard and Music Technology at Uppingham School, is celebrating a landmark achievement, he has scored his first number 1 in the UK Classical Artist Album Chart with ‘Evolution’, which is also sitting comfortably in the Official Charts Top 30 alongside international icons such as Eminem, Drake and Bob Marley - the latter of which inspired his formative years. This achievement sees Mr Ffrench firmly establish himself as one of the world’s fastest-growing classical artists, and a rising star in the streaming world with over 100 million streams to date.
Evolution has been revered across the UK media, with the Evening Standard saying that “breaking stereotypes is what Ffrench is all about”, the Daily Telegraph commenting that “Alexis Ffrench defines a unique sound”, The Sun declaring him a “pianist sensation” and both BBC Music and The Independent describing Mr Ffrench's music as simply “beautiful”.
The album arrived off the back of a landmark year, with electrifying performances at Latitude Festival and the 2018 Classic BRIT Awards, where Mr Ffrench performed his stunning track ‘Bluebird’. He was joined on the iconic Royal Albert Hall stage by opera singer Pretty Yende, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and provided a platform for young ballet dancers including his talented daughter Savannah, who performed a beautifully choreographed routine. Their performance received a standing ovation and resulted in tears of pride and joy for Savannah. That night marked the start of a truly special journey for the Ffrench family
Earlier this year he signed with Modest! Management, home to a brace of all-conquering pop acts, including Little Mix, Olly Murs and Niall Horan. With more than 100 million streams to date and now over 1.5 million active listeners a month, Alexis Ffrench is an established star in the streaming world, leading the way for the new generation of classical artists, with his music speaking to a very wide and diverse audience and transcending all boundaries and genres. Alexis Ffrench’s success this year is only just beginning.
