Drama Scholar’s successful Year Out Drama audition

Congratulations to Holly Walters on her recent audition for the Year Out Drama Company, based in Stratford-upon-Avon. She has been offered a place on the course, which is an outstanding achievement.

As one of our Drama Scholars, Holly has been a dedicated and committed member of the drama department since joining the School in Fourth Form. Having appeared in every major production the  School has done since then, Holly has refined her skills in drama and performance over her years at Uppingham and we are sure she will continue to delight audiences when she joins the Year Out Drama Company later this year.

Year Out Drama is a full-time intensive practical drama course designed to allow performers to further refine and develop their performance skills in a professional environment. Receiving expert tuition from working professionals from within the industry, participants are afforded the opportunity to participate in professional-level productions as well as gaining skills in a wide range of theatre disciplines.

Set in the beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon – the city of Shakespeare’s birth and home of the Royal Shakespeare Company – the program also allows thespians to mature as they move on from education into their professional life.

Holly follows in the footsteps of another former Drama Scholar, Felix Badcock (WD 18), who joined the course with the Year Out Drama Company after leaving Uppingham in 2020. Felix was a very valued member of the Company and was personally commended by the Course Director. The Company have been so impressed with Felix’s skillset, energy and maturity that they are interested in seeing more students from Uppingham, and we are sure that Holly will continue to bolster this reputation when the course commences again in September 2021.

Mrs Hayes, Artistic Director (Theatre) praised Holly's dedication to theatre at Uppingham, saying that this outstanding achievement is "so well deserved and we are absolutely thrilled for her."

We are delighted that Year Out Drama have recognised Holly’s extraordinary talents and hard work by offering her a place on the course. Holly has been an asset to our Theatre Company throughout her time here, and we wish her all the best as she takes these next steps towards her future career. Congratulations, Holly!
